2016 Scholar Faris Qubain, and educator Molly Diallo, wanted to celebrate the students from different countries, religions, races, and socio-economic ranges that attend the high school, as well as promote conversations across established student groups. Their response is the Branch Out! Program.
Students applied to become a member of the inaugural Branch Out! team, who served as student ambassadors in the lunch room, bringing together students groups from different backgrounds, and forging meaningful connections.
Branch Out! is a year-long program, featuring multiple after-school workshops for 40 underclassmen selected to participate. The program culminated in one day off-campus retreat to celebrate the first year of ground-breaking work.
“We hope that 9th and 10th graders will bring about sustainable, positive social change and impact others through promoting inclusiveness, respect and kindness amongst members of our student body,” notes Faris.
