Day 28 (Youth for HOPE) Logo

Project Theme: Period Poverty

Years in Existence: 3

Target Audience and Location: Individuals receiving support for homelessness and/or domestic violence in San Bernardino County, California.

Mission:  To advocate for and provide access to free period products to individuals lacking menstrual resources in San Bernardino County shelters through community fundraising and donations.

Project Description: Founding Scholar Jessie Lin and educator James Wilson created this project to address the disparities that exist within women’s healthcare. Now known as Day 28, which represents the 28-day length of a menstrual cycle, their project is to collect and donate menstrual products to those in need. This year, the team is increasing menstrual hygiene accessibility by working with shelters to assess need, distribute products, and measure impact based on how many menstrual cycles are supported. At the same time, they are launching an education campaign through a website and ongoing social media content, tracking engagement to evaluate how effectively they are raising awareness and reducing stigma.
