2017 Bezos Scholar Amal Altareb and educator Mary McIntosh’s Local Ideas Festival Speak 901 focused on breaking down barriers between diverse groups in the Memphis community and empowering different people to work together for change.
Their festival featured speakers, activities, and food, in addition to highlighting the importance of conversations with each other to dismantle stereotypes.
