Javier Rubio

A retired firefighter, Javier now teaches high schoolers the science and service of public safety. Born and raised in the culturally rich town of El Paso, he now guides teens toward careers in firefighting, law enforcement, and emergency medical services. Javier also works to reimagine the school day itself, convinced that hands‑on, community‑rooted learning cultivates resilience in students that the future will demand. As a Bezos Scholar, he looks forward to sharpening leadership tools he can pass to students and boosting their confidence to help shape how their communities can protect, heal, and thrive.
