Sally Awuku

Estimated reading time:1 min

As a Ghanaian‑American, Sally sees New York City’s diversity as proof that many perspectives build stronger solutions. The vice‑president of her school’s Honor Society, a women‑empowerment club leader, and an officer in the local National Society of Jr. Black Engineers, she channels that leadership into climate action. As a neighborhood ambassador for a non-profit, she organizes drives that turn surplus groceries into meals to reduce food waste. Sally is most passionate about increasing sustainable solutions for environmental and chemical engineering to design green infrastructure that is critical for saving our planet. She enjoys reading books from diverse authors, baking pastries and working on her geography skills. Sally is thrilled to join the Bezos Scholars cohort to integrate the broad perspectives of her peers into solutions for a broader community to ensure the representation of all.
